Learn by creating memories instead of memorizing!

Experiential learning, or "learning by doing", is one of the most effective methods of teaching and learning (Merriam & Bierema, 2014). Reading about the Grand Canyon in a book is not as effective as learning about its geography and history through an immersive experience. However, experiential learning does not have to be expensive or impractical! Rather than visiting the Grand Canyon, you can create experiences for your students by having them explore places on Google Maps, analyze case studies, role-play situations, and even use virtual reality simulations! Did you know that Steam offers FREE virtual reality education simulations as a way to provide experiential learning to students? Last weekend, I learned how to change my cabin filter by playing "Car Mechanic Simulator" on Steam! "Learning by creating memories is more effective than learning by memorizing." - Irene Arshad
